We are pleased to announce that our current orphanages in Afghanistan will now be run under the auspices of a newly-recognized, government-registered NGO, Afghan Child Education and Care Organization (AFCECO). This new entity will allow the orphanage to gain greater access to assistance from available governmental programs, at this crucial time when many international donors are bolstering their support of the Afghan government with large donations.
The orphanage coordinator you know so well, Andeisha, is the Director of this new NGO. Your sponsored children will continue to be cared for and educated in the same warm, loving, safe, and egalitarian manner. In fact, at a recent celebration in honor of AFCECO receiving official status, several top government officials were extremely impressed with the facilities. They proclaimed it to be the best orphanage they had seen in Afghanistan! AFCECO also won second place among 50 other NGOS, in terms of having presented thorough documentation when applying for their NGO status. So, Charity Help International is very proud of the work Andeisha and others have accomplished at these orphanages and will continue to do in the future.
CHI has just begun a new partnership with GUA Africa. Our first project will be to support the Emma Academy in Southern Sudan.
GUA Africa has been granted 15 acres of land in Leer, West Upper Nile, by the government of South Sudan. Our goal is to build a high quality education centre for the whole community, which is to be called the Emma Academy, as a legacy to Emma McCune who lies in rest in Leer.
The twenty year long Sudanese civil war has meant that schooling in South Sudan today mostly consists of teaching under trees. Many former child soldiers have not found their way back into education, and traditionally only 1 in 5 girls are supported to finish High School.
Back in November 2008 GUA officials agreed with the local Leer community that the Emma Academy project should be split into two phases. The first phase will see the renovation of the existing Leer primary school, which is in desperate need of repair with only two out of four classrooms currently being fit for use. The budget for Phase 1 has been set at $250,000, which includes the construction of 5 extra classrooms.
Founder: GUA Africa was founded by Emmanuel Jal, an ex-child soldier turned rap artist. The word GUA (pronounced gwaah) means peace in Nuer, a tribal language of Southern Sudan.
GUA Africa's mission is to work with individuals, families and communities to help them overcome the effects of war and poverty. Each of the projects focus on providing an education to children and young adults who would otherwise be denied such opportunity. Currently GUA Africa works in Kenya and Sudan.

Ripples International
Ripples International-founded in 2001 in Meru, Kenya- serves children and families impacted by HIV/AIDS. Low estimates place approximately 27,000 orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in the Meru Central district. Some estimates go as high as 50,000 OVC. Ripples is currently only able to serve approximately 547 OVC, 32 abandoned children under the age of 2 years, and 200 people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). This translates into a need to service ratio of almost 35 to 1. You can help!

"Mathew's Rule."All children in the care of Orphans International must be given the same love and security that each of our team members would give to their own children. The rule is named after OI founder Jim Luce's adopted son, Mathew.
OIWW's Family Care" model arranges for donors to provide on-going, monthly stipends for the financial, health and educational support of the poorest families. OIWW also provides school oversight, after school tutoring, enrichment programs, health checkups, and monitoring of the child’s wellbeing.

Kalyani
The project is based on a 7 acre campus south of the university town of Kalyani, West Bengal, India. Through a partnership with ACTS and the local university, we will build a new, sustainable community to provide education, support, and opportunities for people living close by.
